ABOUT
Enabling equitable access to legal technology
LawLabz is a commercial enterprise that provides much-needed services to an under-serviced segment of the community.
LawLabz stands as an excellent example of how ESG and BBBEE obligations can be approached as an opportunity to further the interests of the broader community, without loss of commerciality.
LawLabz built and supports HiveLaw, an innovative legal practice management platform, which drives the full lifecycle of matters managed by university Law Clinics. LawLabz also offers consulting and training services to the legal industry, in areas of legal technology application and process improvement, including its Gen AI masterclass. In time, LawLabz will invest further in research and development of other products and services geared towards improving access to affordable legal services for previously underserviced segments of the legal industry.
LawLabz is a black owned joint venture between the following entities.

Creating lasting change
OUR MISSION
All South African citizens and corporate entities share responsibility to help build a fair and just society. The South African regulatory framework seeks to encourage and empower corporate participation in commercial enterprises that uplifts individuals and communities. Instead of viewing the regulatory framework as a compliance obligation, LawLabz’ shareholders and stakeholders choose to view it as an opportunity to create a lasting impact in the legal industry in which they operate.
People are at the heart of what LawLabz does: empower, access, change:
empowering people with knowledge and opportunity;
offering access to tools and skills not readily available outside of LawLabz’ offerings; and
changing lives – of students, clients and legal educators – in how they engage with legal services and legal education.
